WHICH WOOD IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We have a clear recommendation: in our experience, personal taste is the only important parameter for a long-term positive product relationship, and thus the only question to answer is:
Which wood do you like best? Quite personally and quite deep inside?
(Falling in love is explicitly allowed).

From a purely technical point of view, all wood species in our range are suitable as cutting boards and differ only in the finest nuances of density & hardness - apart from bamboo, which is characterized by far above-average hardness and resistance, but of course does not look as lively as the other woods.

Containerset:

CONTAINER

DSC03391

PREPARE - STORE - STACK

Our boards always come with a basic set of containers.
So there are always enough containers at hand and you can start cooking easily right away. This way, you quickly have your first flow experience working with the board - and that's important, because only with enough containers does it become easy to work with the board. Positive side effect: The container system also finds its way into everyday kitchen life from the very first day and is usually indispensable after the first few days. And soon you will notice that a few additional containers - in other materials or sizes - might not be so bad.

SET B6
2 x M100 | 3 x M150 | 1 x L150 | each with lid
Well positioned to face larger recipes fearlessly. The container L fits into the double bracket when the U-separator is retracted and is also ideal for mixing whole salads directly on the board.

PLASTIC OR STAINLESS STEEL?

 Screenshot-2021-08-26-at-10-35-29

PLASTIC CONTAINER
+ Transparent, making them ideal for storage in the refrigerator.
+ Smoky, desaturated colors are conscientiously balanced - food in the containers looks appetizing and is not drowned out by the colors of the containers, but it still creates a distinguished color impression.
+ Free of BPA & plasticizers.
+ Made in Offenbach, Germany.
+ 100% free of plasticizers (bisphenols type A, B, F, S & phthalates).

STAINLESS STEEL CONTAINER
+ Robust & "unbreakable": unususally thick walls and high dead weight
+ The polished stainless steel looks stylish and high quality at the same time and evokes memories of the beginnings of aviation
+ Made in Milan, Italy

MONO

The all-purpose board

The Mono is our favourite board from many points of view, because it is basically the intersection of BASIC-L and PHOENIX, but combines the best of both worlds in one product:

Equipped with our "big" bracket system, it not only offers space for up to 7 containers on 3 sides, it is also so generously cut that you can confidently cook for 6-8 people without running into logistical bottlenecks - like every Frankfurt board, it is designed for intensive use, up to 35kg of payload can be hooked into the bracket system.

Unlike the Basic-L, the MONO can also be turned and even rotated - the board is simply placed on the provided silicone rings to create two equally usable work surfaces.
If, at some point, one side is a little worn out, you simply turn the whole board over and have a completely untouched working surface in front of you.
(Over the years, the Mono offers more than twice as much cutting board as the Basic-L. Seriously).

The Mono is cross-glued from 3 layers of wood - so the grain direction of the middle layer is offset against the two top layers.
This principle of "plywood" (the wood locks against each other, internal tensions are thus neutralised) is incomparably durable and robust.*

And for all the functional and constructive advantages that the Mono has:
We love it above all for being so down-to-earth yet elegant.

The way it sits on the table - simple wooden board through and through, yet so thoughtful & well shaped in detail.
That's probably why we always show the Mono when we want to explain the Frankfurt board to someone.

 ---

*This is also reflected in our exceptional rate of warranty cases:
Only about 0.3% of all boards delivered have a defect that we have to repair. And that with a warranty period of 2 years, in continuous intense use in a wide variety of kitchens.

** By the way, the Mono is the "original": the first design of the Frankfurt board from 2015. In production unchanged since then.

Delivery content:
- Choping board MONO (Wood-type of choice)
-  Anti-Slip Silicone-rings to place underneath the board inclusive
- 3 x front-bracket - for either 3 x container M or 1 x container M  and 1x container L
- 2 side-brackets on each side, for 2x container M (Or 1 container L at the one side)
- 1 x display-bracket - for up to 4 containers S (max. 65mm)
- Container-set of choice (L1 - L2 - L3 | Material of choice: Plastic, stainless steel or "Chef´s Choice" - mixed sorting) (additional costs, depending on your choice)
- Solid transport packaging and manual

FIELD REPORTS
FAQ

The fact is: All our woods are absolutely suitable for use as cutting boards – from a purely functional point of view there are therefore no significant differences. From our point of view, this makes the choice of wood a purely aesthetic matter and you can simply decide in a pleasant and light-footed manner what suits you best – in our experience this is always the best way to be happy with your products in the long run anyway. (The only limitation: If you own extremely high-quality, not stainless knives (99% of all knives are stainless – if you don’t own stainless knives, you usually know about it), you don’t want to use oak wood, otherwise the black stains typical for oak can occur if the knife accidentally lies on the wood with a moist blade for a long time.)

The logistical processes on a chopping board are surprisingly complex – this can be confirmed by anyone who has ever cooked a little more sophisticated. But what exactly happens and why the Frankfurt board is anything but a short-lived lifestyle product: HERE our detailed blog article about zones of use, working directions and ergonomics when cooking.

Quite the opposite – with our little cleaning routine, cleaning is not only faster, it’s also fun. HIER our blog article on the topic.

Every good tool needs care, as does the Frankfurt board. But that’s no reason to panic: Actually it is done with a little wood oil every 2 weeks – but you can also do a little more. HIER is our detailed care instructions.

Cutting boards made of wood or rather of plastic? Of course we have an opinion – or rather a recommendation: HIER is our article on the topic.

We hear this question relatively often: Unlocked brackets seem like a gross error of thought, but there are actually good reasons for it:
A – CLEANING: To clean the board, simply remove the brackets from the board and put them in the dishwasher – job done.
B – FLEXIBILITY: Especially with our "large" boards, the various brackets can be quickly repositioned as required and adapted to the working situation – a locking mechanism would make this very complicated.
C – SAFETY: Children who pull on a bracket from below could pull the entire board (including the knives on it) off the worktop when the handle is locked. If the brackets are not fixed, the worst thing that can happen is to pull them out.
D – It does not matter in everyday life at all. We have never received a customer complaint that the loose brackets are a nuisance in everyday life.

Unfortunately not. Although all external dimensions of the containers are standardised, the internal dimensions – i.e. where the containers rest on the brackets – are not standardised and vary considerably depending on the manufacturer and in some cases do not fit. So that the boards can be used smoothly right from the start, we deliver our board systems only in combination with containers.
